Danny Graham says he's joined a "massive club" - and the striker is relishing the chance to fill the back of the net on Wearside.

The striker has tied up a £5m move to the Stadium of Light after hitting a handsome 21 goals in one and a half seasons at Swansea.

"The medical and paperwork are out of the way now and I'm really happy to be here," he said. "This is a good challenge for me.

"I'm just looking forward to getting out on the pitch and doing well for Sunderland Football Club.

"This is a massive club. The passion from the fans is immense and I can't wait to get started, get out on the training ground and meet the boys."

The 27-year-old joined Sunderland just two days after appearing against the Black Cats as a substitute for Swansea at the Stadium of Light.

He couldn't be happier to now be wearing the red and white stripes and cited the enthusiasm of boss Martin O'Neill as something he's been particularly impressed by.

"The manager was very positive in terms of how much he wanted me at the football club, and that was a major factor," he explained.

"To come to a big club and be wanted so much by the manager was very reassuring and I think most players want that."

The move sees Graham, who will wear the number nine shirt, return his native north east.

The Gateshead-born frontman kicked off his career with Middlesbrough and later represented Carlisle and Watford before moving to Swansea in summer 2011.

He has scored in excess of 100 career goals and is looking forward to adding many more in Sunderland colours.

"The last few years have been mad, to be honest," he admitted.

"When I left Middlesbrough I had to prove myself all over again in League One. I did that and then did it again in the Championship before going back to the Barclays Premier League.

"I want to help this club move forward. This club should be in the top half of the league and I want to help achieve that."
