Alfred gets a start

New boy steps in at DW Stadium.

 

Alfred N'Diaye makes his full Sunderland debut as the Black Cats take on Wigan at the DW Stadium (3pm).

The midfielder has been named in the starting line-up, taking his place in midfield along with the returning Seb Larsson.

The pair replace James McClean and Phil Bardsley, while John O'Shea returns from injury to step in for Matt Kilgallon.

Elsewhere, Steven Fletcher is back in up front, with Connor Wickham dropping to the bench.

Ahmed Elmohamady is amongst the substitutes after being recalled from his loan spell at Hull City.

Sunderland: Mignolet, Gardner, Colback, O'Shea (c), Bramble, N'Diaye, Larsson, Vaughan, Johnson, Sessegnon, Fletcher.

Subs: Wickham, McFadden, Kilgallon, McClean, Elmohamady, Bardsley, Westwood.
