Ladies set for derby action

Wear-Tyne clash this Sunday.

Sunderland Ladies entertain Newcastle United this weekend in the group stage of the Premier League Cup.

The Lady Black Cats having been drawn in group six alongside Leeds United, Nottingham Forest and Sheffield, welcome their opponents from the Northern Premier League.

The group stage consists of six groups of five teams with each team to play each other once. The top two of each group along with the best four third-placed teams, will progress to the last 16 on a one leg knockout basis.

This is the second fixture in this competition for both teams, with Sunderland beating Sheffield and Newcastle suffering defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest in the last round.

The last time the two teams met was also in the Premier League Cup, over two years ago

Sunday's game takes place at the Hetton Centre (Eppleton CW) with a 2pm kick-off.
